This almost serves as an addendum to yesterday’s post
Sometimes inaction is the action
This has been said many times in many different contexts, and is worth repeating. Taking what seems to be no action sometimes is THE action that needs to happen.
Actively making a decision to NOT do something different in the context of the problem or the opportunity can sometimes be the VERY thing that needs happen to allow the outcome to take place or come to fruition. This is still being done with intention in mind, it is an active choice.
Sometimes things are already on the right course, or by intervening you prevent growth and learning. Think about the case where one person always does the work for another person to “keep them from failing” that person taking action is actually detrimental to the long term situation.
Be aware that there may be cases where you intentionally don’t take action to allow outcomes to happen and that IS the action.
